Dear Members of the Turkish American Community Coast-to-Coast:


I hope this message finds you well. Let me begin by celebrating all of your past Mother's and Father's Days. Family well-being, health, togetherness, and happiness are the most important parts of our lives. We could not do any of our volunteer and charitable work if any part of our family lives were missing.

 

Appreciating our History


I am honored to be your 15th ATAA President.  As I promised two years ago, I will do my level best to promote ATAA's vision and to serve ATAA's mission which are to empower Turkish Americans in all aspects of American life, and to defend and support strong relations between our beloved mother land, Türkiye, and our new homeland, the United States of America.[read]

 
A Historic Day for ATAA: Ambassador Tan Opens the Renovated ATAA Türk Evi

On Saturday June 11, 2011, Ambassador Namik Tan led the official opening of the renovated ATAA Türk Evi (Turkish House) with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by community leaders, diplomats, journalists, ATAA officers and delegates, student leaders, young professionals, and Turkic and other heritage community representatives. Throughout the renovation of the ATAA Türk Evi both Ambassador Tan and Mrs. Tan provided invaluable support. [read]

 

ATAA, FTAA Oppose Anti-Turkish Legislation, H.Res.s 304 and 306

  

In a joint statement, the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) and Federation of Turkish American Associations (FTAA) expressed the strong opposition of the Turkish American community to two recently introduced resolutions which condemn Turkey of the crime of genocide against Armenians during World War I, and the destruction of the Christian heritage of ancient and modern Turkey as a form of genocide against Christians. Both organizations urged Turkish Americans to contact their representatives through the CapWiz system and ask their representatives to distance themselves from these misleading resolutions.  [read]
H01064 Contravenes History, Law, US Foreign Policy

 

The Assembly of Turkish American Associations responds to the Massachusetts Joint Education Committee Members regarding the fundamentally unfair and unjust Bill hearing, which accuses the Ottoman Empire, and by implication, Turkey and people of Turkish heritage, of the high crime of genocide. ATAA urges the Massachusetts General Court to modify the bill accordingly to promote ethnic and religious reconciliation. [read]

 

ATAA Briefs Critical Languages Scholars

 

ATAA Past President Gunay Evinch briefed over 60 American scholars of the Turkish language regarding career choices ranging from diplomacy and security to science and business.  The Critical Language Scholars program of the US State Department is emphasizing Turkey and China, as over 60 scholars enter intensive Turkish language training in Turkey and 100 go to China. ATAA Hosts Young Turkish and American Leaders

The ATAA hosted over 20 young American and Turkish professionals as a part of the US State Department-sponsored Young Turkey / Young America program. ATAA Past President Gunay Evinch briefed American participants prior to their visit to Turkey, and Turkish participants prior to their tour of America. A diverse group of Young America leaders included US Senate staff, academicians, think tanks experts, and non-profit organization officers.  [read]

 

ATAA Marks Volunteer Appreciation Day

The Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) hosted an 'ATAA Volunteer Appreciation Day' on Sunday, June 19th at the newly renovated ATAA Türk Evi in Washington, D.C. The event was held to recognize the selfless individuals that generously continue to volunteer their time to support efforts to empower Turkish American grassroots and strengthen U.S.-Turkish relations. ATAA Component Association Spotlight

Turkish - American Business Association - TABA / AMCHAM

 

The Turkish - American Business Association (TABA), founded in 1987 as a non-profit organization, has its main office in Istanbul and five branches Turkish Anatolia. TABA has over 650 corporate members.


As the representative of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Turkey, TABA's goal is to enhance trade relations between the United States and Turkey; to encourage American investments in Turkey; assist AmCham members in connecting with potential strategic partners in Turkey; assist in solving various trade issues, and contribute to the promotion of Turkey and the Turkish private sector in the United States.


In order to accomplish these goals, TABA/AmCham founded committees staffed by TABA and AmCham members: Membership; Project Development; Telecommunications and Information Technology; Energy and Infrastructure; Law and Finance; Publications, Activities and Communications; Corporate Affairs; Consumer Products; Intellectual Property Rights and Trademarks; Defense Industry; Tourism; Real Estate; and Transportation; Investment and Regulations pertaining to EU relations.
