Turkish American Advocates and Friends of Türkiye:
The 32nd Annual Turkish American National Convention will take place April 12-14, 2012. Unprecedented in Turkish American history, the Annual Convention will be hosted in unity and harmony by America's most established national Turkish American organizations -- the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA), Federation of Turkish American Associations (FTAA), and Turkish American Community Centers (TACC).
In the spirit of solidarity within diversity, I convened a Joint Planning Committee under the chairmanship of ATAA Past President Günay Evinch with members from all three organizations, which is proud to present a rich menu of seminars, panels and cultural events to help Turkish American grassroots leaders educate, motivate, and mobilize their local communities and to support US-Turkish relations.
On April 12, Grassroots Day, the Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) will host ATAA, FTAA and TACC local chapter leaders at the TCA's new office building near the White House, for a day of training in public advocacy.
On April 13, 2012, Leadership Day, which will take place at the Washington Plaza Hotel, we will delve into the intricacies of US-Turkish relations and public advocacy.
On April 14, 2012, Young Turks Day, Current TV's "Young Turks" talk show host, Cenk Uygur, will provide a program on how to take advantage of your Turkish culture in your advocacy efforts. European Union Turkish politician Hande Bozatli will discuss youth and women's empowerment movements.
Young Turkish American multi-millionaire, Ersal Özdemir, will be the keynote speaker at the Gala, "Night Under the Moon and Stars", which will include high level representation from Congress, the State Department, and White House. Esref Inceoglu Gypsies Group will provide live entertainment, including a repertoire of Turkish meze dining music, as rich Turkish Balkan, Caucuses and Middle Eastern folk and pop.
We are looking forward to seeing you at another successful Turkish American Convention in beautiful Washington DC this month when the cherry trees blossoms are in full bloom and the weather is Turkish delightful!
Ergün Kırlıkovalı
President
Assembly of Turkish American Associations
As of April 12, 2012 - 8:00am EST - The program is subject to change. Please refer to the NLC 2012 page for updates.
